Job summary

ALSO. is building a scalable backend for its connected EV platform in Silicon Valley. You will drive architectural decisions across ingestion, APIs, and fleet analytics, shaping secure, scalable IoT infrastructure powering customer experiences.

You will mentor engineers, influence engineering best practices, and help grow a team culture of technical excellence. This full-time role is based in Palo Alto with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building and scaling backend systems.
• Experience with remote device lifecycle management.
• Design, ship, and operate production systems from scratch.
• Strong AWS experience (Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, IAM).
• Expert in API design and data exchange (REST/GraphQL, gRPC/JSON-RPC).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to architecture and implementation of backend systems for secure, scalable IoT infra.
• Improve core cloud infrastructure: API design, schema, service interactions, observability, deployment.
• Contribute to shared services for API gateway, caches, schema upgrades.
• Build data and API integrations with external services and partner platforms.
• Strengthen security and privacy across the platform, including authentication.
• Design and implement systems for high availability and geographic redundancy.
