CVS Health is seeking a Principal Cloud Architect to lead cloud architecture across Aetna Technology. The role prioritizes AWS with GCP/Azure support by exception and guides workloads, security, and cost decisions with design authority rather than direct reports.

This role can be fully remote from anywhere in the continental USA, enabling leadership across multi-cloud patterns and automated guardrails. You will shape the paved road, mentor engineers, and drive architectural excellence in

Qualifications

• 12+ years of technology experience with deep, hands-on cloud architecture at scale.
• Expert-level AWS architecture with working knowledge of GCP and Azure for multicloud placement and design decisions.
• Ownership of landing zones, reference architectures, and paved-road patterns.
• Strong command of cloud security, zero-trust design, identity, segmentation, and blast-radius reduction.
• Working knowledge of FinOps and cost-aware architecture; tie design decisions to dollar impact.
• Track record of driving technical outcomes through influence as an IC.

Responsibilities

• Own cloud reference architectures and landing zones across AWS, with GCP/Azure supported by exception.
• Set multicloud strategy and criteria for workload placement and design decisions.
• Design and maintain paved roads, golden patterns, modules, and guardrails to accelerate teams.
• Serve as escalation point for cloud design decisions across the portfolio.
• Embed zero-trust, identity, and network segmentation into reference architectures.
• Define resilience targets and blast-radius reduction for critical systems.
• Own cloud cost architecture and surface dollar impact of architectural choices.
• Provide infrastructure support for AI/ML platform workloads and model serving.
