Job description

AIR is seeking a Senior Clinical Quality Measure Developer to join AIR’s Learning, Translation, and Quality Measurement Program. We focus on advancing equitable, high-quality, affordable, patient-centered care through research, evaluation, and technical assistance, emphasizing what matters most to patients, families, clinicians, and the healthcare community.

Our work includes quality measurement to ensure safe, equitable care; translating research evidence to promote best practices; and engaging various stakeholders in healthcare improvement.

This position offers the flexibility to work remotely within the United States, excluding U.S. territories.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead the design, development, and testing of electronic clinical quality measures using CQL, QDM, and FHIR.
  2. Define user requirements, design test plans, and develop testing strategies for digital quality measurement projects.
  3. Lead research teams focused on quality measure development.
  4. Facilitate meetings with project teams and clients.
  5. Prepare technical reports and manuscripts that clearly communicate research findings to diverse audiences.
  6. Provide strategic and technical expertise in digital quality health and clinical informatics to support business and research growth.
  7. Mentor junior staff, sharing problem-solving approaches and providing feedback.
  8. Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, representing AIR professionally.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience in health or nursing informatics, electronic clinical quality measurement, or related fields.
  2. Experience in contract research environments or similar projects.
  3. Proficiency with FHIR, CQL, or QDM.
  4. Experience with eCQM tools like MAT, Bonnie, MADiE, and others.
  5. Background in developing and testing electronic clinical quality measures.
  6. Knowledge of clinical workflows and EHR systems.
  7. Ability to interpret clinical and technical measure requirements with clinicians and researchers.
  8. Understanding of CBE requirements and rule-making processes.

  2. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
