Job summary

Guthrie in Sayre, PA is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to perform tests and related clerical and technical functions with minimal supervision, following established procedures and QA practices. The role requires independent judgment in interpreting results, maintaining equipment, and contributing to quality assurance and documentation.

You may serve as charge/lead technologist when qualified, assist Lab Manager in operations, train new staff, and help evaluate new techniques.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited program.
• Licensure per state requirements (PA preferred; NY licensure for NY sites) and ASCP certification is preferred but not required.
• A minimum of 12 CEUs must be earned each year.

Responsibilities

• Recognizes equipment malfunction and documents corrective actions.
• Communicates test results, methodology, and factors affecting results in a competent manner.
• Assists in evaluating new techniques and writes/revises technical procedures.
• Instructs new employees or students and provides guidance to staff.
• Maintains supply levels and a clean work area; ensures proper specimen handling.
• Performs routine and complex laboratory procedures with independent judgment and adherence to protocols.
• Complies with regulatory requirements and records quality control data.
