Job summary

SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital – Madison is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist Lead to supervise the Central Accessioning laboratory and oversee a team, ensuring timely, accurate results.

The role includes mentoring staff, selecting appropriate tests, and maintaining instruments; requires Associate degree and 2 years' experience, with an evening shift, Monday–Friday 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM and occasional weekend/holiday coverage.

Qualifications

• Supervise a laboratory team and oversee assignments.
• Lead complex laboratory testing and ensure accurate results.
• Provide mentoring and guidance to lab staff.

Responsibilities

• Performs a full range of laboratory tests from simple blood tests to more complex tests.
• Interprets test reports and communicates findings to physicians.
• Escalates unusual, critical or abnormal results.
• Operates complex electronic equipment and precision instruments.
• Maintains equipment and reagents with preventive maintenance.
• Reviews literature and attends meetings to stay updated.
