Job summary

The Johns Hopkins Hospital is seeking a Clinical Lab Scientist III to join the Pathology Lab team in the Howard County location, working 3:00pm–11:30pm with weekend/holiday rotations. This role requires senior lab expertise, training responsibilities, and the ability to support multiple testing programs.

The position emphasizes leadership within the lab, with potential to serve as charge in the absence of supervisory staff and to participate in committees and project teams.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Medical Lab Sciences, Medical Technology, or Clinical Lab Science related field is required.
• May consider BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or related field with clinical internship/rotations and Med Tech certification.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates an advanced level of laboratory experience; performs routine and complex clinical lab tests and reports results following SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
• Supports needs of the laboratory in pre-analytical and analytical areas as assigned.
• Provides training to new hires, colleagues, students, residents/fellows, and others in the laboratory.
• Sets up and maintains equipment; monitors quality control standards.
• Participates in validation, QA, and research support; assists in implementing new testing programs.
• Reviews lab requisitions and collects pertinent clinical and medical chart data as assigned.
• May perform data entry, pre-analytical setup, and routine clerical tasks.
• May assist with inventory/ordering and back-up tasks.
