Job Description

Ensures the repair and maintenance of patient, lab, and research equipment according to established standards. Calibrates machines and provides technical assistance to equipment users and less experienced members of the department. Maintains proper documentation on all activities and oversees the correct installation of new equipment.

Job Responsibilities

1. Ensures the repair and maintenance of patient, lab, and research equipment in accordance with manufacturer and hospital specifications.
2. Ensures that new equipment meets specifications.
3. Performs preventive maintenance, including calibration and operator/patient safety tests on a regular schedule to ensure proper operation and a safe patient environment.
4. Provides technical assistance and guidance to equipment users.
5. Tests and evaluates equipment being considered for purchase.
6. Travels to institutions possessing this equipment as needed.
7. Oversees proper installation of new medical equipment.
8. Helps maintain outside vendor repair and calibration to ensure quality workmanship.
9. Maintains proper documentation of work performed for outside agencies.
