Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Senior Clinical Dietitian to lead nutrition services at Vernon State Hospital. The role directs the Dietician/Nutritionist department, develops policies, ensures regulatory compliance, and reports on patient meal satisfaction and performance improvements.

You will supervise staff and partner with the Leadership Team on strategic nutrition initiatives.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in dietetics, food and nutrition, food systems management, or a related field.
• Current registration as a Dietitian (R.D or R.D.N.) with the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensure as a Dietitian (L.D.) with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians.
• At least twenty-four months working as dietitian or nutrition work in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Twelve months experience working at a facility serving people with psychiatric or intellectual developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides medical nutrition therapy to patients and develops nutrition care plans.
• Supervises assigned staff and manages department personnel and workload.
• Plans, directs, and monitors nutrition programs and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborates with Leadership Team on nutrition department projects and reports.
