Job summary

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Dietitian to provide on-site nutrition services within a behavioral health and inpatient healthcare setting. This role is responsible for assessing nutritional needs, developing individualized nutrition care plans, educating patients and families, and collaborating with interdisciplinary treatment teams to support optimal health outcomes. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical nutrition experience, excellent communication skills, and a passion for improving patient health through evidence-based nutritional care.

What you will be doing
  • Provide comprehensive nutrition assessments and nutrition care services to patients throughout the facility.
  • Develop individualized nutrition care plans designed to improve patient health, wellness, and overall physical condition.
  • Evaluate patients’ nutritional status, health goals, medical conditions, and dietary restrictions.
  • Monitor dietary intake, track patient progress, and adjust nutrition interventions as needed.
  • Educate patients on healthy eating habits and strategies to maintain a balanced diet.
  • Consult with patients, family members, physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary treatment teams regarding nutritional needs and recommendations.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and nutrition-related recommendations in the medical record.
  • Review and approve patient menus and communicate dietary requirements to Food Services.
  • Participate in treatment planning and collaborate with healthcare professionals to support patient care goals.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
What you must have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Current Registered Dietitian (RD) credential through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Current Texas Dietitian License in good standing.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a Registered Dietitian.
  • Experience working in healthcare, behavioral health, psychiatric, or inpatient settings preferred.
  • Strong assessment, care planning, and patient education skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with physicians, healthcare staff, patients, and family members.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Other Information

Schedule

  • Full-time, on-site position.
  • Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • No holidays, weekends, or on-call responsibilities.
