Job Summary :

The Senior Clinical Database Programmer is responsible for ensuring that clinical study data is collected, processed, and validated in a consistent and appropriate manner that aligns with BD’s QMS procedures, resulting in high-quality data ready for statistical analysis. They oversee all end-to-end clinical data management programming activities for assigned studies.

Job Responsibilities :

1. Provides leadership in clinical data management programming within the study team to align on and drive data collection requirements.
2. Plans, coordinates, and delivers complete, high-quality, and reliable clinical trial data in a timely manner.
3. Responsible for all end-to-end programming activities and acts as a point of contact for team members.
4. Establishes and maintains productive relationships with other functional areas involved in clinical studies.
5. Enforces data standard conventions and quality expectations per defined processes.
6. Reviews and provides input on data management-related study documents and plans.
7. Creates and develops clinical databases and data transfer files according to specifications.
8. Develops and evaluates database configurations, including edit checks, derivations, and form/field dynamics.
9. Utilizes SQL/SAS to create and test reports and listings, ensuring data consistency.
10. Handles pre-processing and loading of non-CRF data files.
11. Collaborates with IT to address technical problems and solutions.
12. Acts as a technical resource to team members.
13. Plans appropriately to ensure adherence to study timelines.
14. Supports continuous improvement activities within clinical data management.
15. Willingness to travel occasionally.

Education and Experience :

Bachelor’s degree or relevant industry experience in lieu of a degree. 5+ years’ clinical database programming experience.

Knowledge and Skills :

1. Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
2. Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills and experience in cross-functional settings.
3. Knowledge of FDA/ISO guidelines and industry practices for data management.
4. Experience with the clinical data lifecycle from setup to database lock and archiving.
5. Understanding of relational databases.
6. Proficiency in SQL scripting.
7. Experience with EDC systems, preferably Veeva.
8. Strong Microsoft Office skills and awareness of industry trends and emerging technologies.
9. Multidisciplinary knowledge across clinical research functions.
10. Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary project teams and develop productive relationships.
