Job summary

Johnson, Hickey & Murchison in Chattanooga is seeking a Senior Client Accountant for an in-person role. You will join a family-oriented office and receive mentorship from seasoned professionals while supporting month-end close, audits, and tax document preparation for clients.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of public accounting experience, CPA eligibility is preferred, and strong Excel and Word skills with excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
• 3–5 years of public accounting experience preferred.
• CPA eligible preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
• Strong accounting and Excel/Word skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of accounting principles to complete assignments with supervision.
• Understands and follows prior year work papers and journal entries.
• Maintains and updates accounting records and files.
• Conducts month-end and year-end closures.
• Prepares documents for audits and/or tax.
• Follows through on responsibilities and takes ownership of assignments.
• Communicates professionally and promptly to clients.
