Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections’ Hardee Correctional Institution seeks a Senior Clerk-F/C in the Classification Department. You will prepare correspondence, maintain inmate files, and input data into the CDC database, supporting efficient classification and records processes.

You will handle mail, answer phones, assist inmate families, and perform other clerical duties while upholding security requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Transcript will be required if a college/university degree is submitted.
  • Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare correspondence, memorandums, and typing of essential forms and documents.
  • Maintain inmate files and conduct audits on new inmates; prepare forms as needed.
  • Input data into the CDC database, retrieve and print information, and maintain classification documents.
  • Receive, date stamp, sort, and distribute mail; handle copying, scanning, and faxing of documents.
  • Answer phone calls professionally, assist inmate families, and handle special projects and other clerical duties.

ADVERTISING TITLE: SENIOR CLERK-F/C (CLASSIFICATION)

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Hardee Correctional Institution in the Classification Department.

The Classification Department accurately assesses and classifies inmates based on their needs, risks, and behaviours. We ensure appropriate housing and program placements within the correctional system. Our goal is to enhance safety and security while promoting effective rehabilitation, ultimately aiding in the successful reintegration of inmates into society.

JOB DUTIES
  • Be the backbone of the Classification Department by preparing correspondence, memorandums, and typing essential forms and documents.
  • Play a crucial role in the Inmate Records area by maintaining inmate files, conducting audits on new inmates, and preparing necessary forms.
  • Showcase your organizational skills by inputting data into the CDC database, retrieving and printing information, and maintaining classification documentation.
  • Keep the department running smoothly by receiving, date stamping, sorting and distributing mail, as well as handling, copying scanning, and faxing of documents.
  • Provide top-notch customer service by answering phone calls professionally, assisting inmate families, and taking on special projects and other clerical duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
