Job description

Job Title: Clerical Associate III

Note: Applicants must be permanently employed in the Clerical Associate title.

About the Office of Child Support Services (OCSS)

The primary goal of OCSS is to ensure that both parents financially support their children. This is achieved by locating absent parents, establishing paternity and child support orders, and managing the collection and disbursement of child support funds. OCSS also collaborates with community organizations to assist non-custodial parents who are unemployed or underemployed, providing services such as education, training, and job placement. These efforts help impoverished families achieve financial independence and self-sufficiency.

Family Court Services

Family Court Services provides support to non-cash assistance clients, including paternity and support establishment, summons services, enforcement and modification of court orders, and locating non-custodial parents. They also refer non-custodial parents to the Support Through Employment Program (STEP) for job training and placement.

Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Principal Administrative Associate I, with some independence for judgment, the Clerical Associate III functions as a Senior Clerk. The role involves performing clerical tasks of moderate difficulty to ensure case information accuracy and that clients are not receiving cash assistance.

Key Responsibilities

  2. Respond to verbal inquiries, assist clients with questions regarding child support, and review applications for completeness and accuracy.
  3. Screen, monitor, and refer incoming calls; maintain confidentiality when relaying messages.
  4. Send summons to clients by mail and email summons to the Sheriff for service.
  5. Format, enter, and maintain statistical and case information; prepare documents for data entry and coordinate with data entry staff.
  6. Prepare weekly reports on unit activities and outstanding cases.
