Job summary

TT Club seeks an experienced lawyer to assist the Regional Claims Director in delivering professional, efficient and high-quality claims and advisory services to TT Club Members and brokers in the port, terminal, transport operator and logistics sectors.

The role involves handling claims according to EQMS, using QLIK for service delivery, reporting issues and providing strategic technical support while assisting underwriting and marketing to grow membership.

• Proven litigation experience defending insurers in disputes and claims.

Responsibilities

• Provide a consistent best-in-class claims service in the region.
• Handle claims in line with EQMS procedures.
• Use the QLIK app to assist with service provision to Members and brokers.
• Report claims issues to the Regional Claims Director as required by EQMS procedures.
• Provide technical support and strategic advice on all claims within assigned authority level.
• Assist underwriting and marketing teams to maintain and grow the Club’s membership.
• Manage Member accounts.
• Promote and support loss prevention work undertaken by Loss Prevention Team.
• Participate in training delivery to claims and underwriting teams.
• Travel to visit Members, brokers and suppliers of services.
• Presentations to Members and external stakeholders at industry events.
• Understand TT Club’s business plan and how this role supports its implementation.

Job description

To assist the Regional Claims Director to deliver a professional, efficient and high quality claims and advisory service to TT Club Members and brokers with the port, terminal, transport operator and logistics sectors.

Main responsibilities:

• To provide a consistent best in class claims service in the region.
• To handle claims in line with EQMS procedures.
• To use the QLIK app to assist with service provision to Members and brokers.

• An appreciation of the business plan of the Club, including its strategy and mission and an understanding of how this role can assist with its implementation.
• An appreciation of the business ethos of Thomas Miller and the Corporate Plan, and shaping this role to achieve the stated aims of the Plan.
• To assist with the development of new business and retention targets.
• Participate in the delivery of training, as needed, to claims and underwriting teams
• To promote and support the loss prevention work undertaken by Loss Prevention Team.

Person Specification:

• Qualified Lawyer (or Law Degree holder), with legal practice experience considered highly desirable.
• Proven litigation experience, with a strong track record of representing and defending insurers in disputes and claims involving insured parties.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Thorough understanding of the TT Club’s claims handling processes.
• Effective listening and communications skills.
• Business acumen.
• Analytical mind-set and critical thinking.

• Significant previous claims handling experience (marine / ports / terminals / transport)
