Job summary

The Ohio Industrial Commission is seeking an experienced claims examiner to support hearings and review of 1st and 2nd level issues. The role uses CAS, ECM, Case Manager, Share Point, ICON and BWC systems to manage data, verify details and organize hearing folders for timely resolutions.

Based in the Cleveland Regional Office, you will handle inquiries, maintain deadlines, back the customer service counter, and uphold accuracy while following workers' compensation laws and IC rules.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals & percentages & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
• 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in office practices & procedures.
• Or 6 mos. exp. as Claims Examiner 1, 16791.
• Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

• Prepare 1st and 2nd level claim issues for hearings and hearing officer review using multiple software applications.
• Review issues according to established workers' compensation laws and IC rules.
• Utilize time management to meet deadlines and legislative time frames.
• Upload and verify accuracy of documents to ensure an accurate hearing folder.
• Answer inquiries regarding the claims process and status.
• Back up the customer service counter as assigned.
