Job summary

Hiscox USA seeks a Senior Claims Examiner for 1st Party Property to adjudicate assigned claims within authority and support the claims team for fair, fast resolutions.

Requirements include 3+ years of 1st Party Commercial claims handling, adjuster license, strong negotiation and mentoring skills, and a BA/BS. This hybrid role offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of 1st Party Commercial claims handling experience.
• Advanced knowledge of claims analysis and adjusting practices.
• Experience with litigated claims.
• In depth knowledge of standards for claims documentation.
• Proven ability to negotiate settlements of moderate to complex claims.
• Experience in mentoring and training other claims examiners.
• Advanced analytical skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Active insurance adjuster’s license.

Responsibilities

• Adjust and resolve moderate to complex 1st Party commercial claims for Property.
• Review and assess coverage for losses.
• Conduct full investigations to confirm coverage relevance.
• Manage business income losses and restoration period.
• Document claim files with all relevant materials per policy and regulatory requirements.
• Assess reserves for indemnity and expenses.
• Draft coverage, reservation of rights, and denial letters under supervision.
• Identify exposures and trends; contribute to best practices.
• Participate in Claims Projects as needed.
