Job summary

Brown & Brown is seeking a Claims Counsel, Management Liability to independently manage a portfolio of complex claims, including D&O, EPL, and Fiduciary Liability for private and nonprofit entities. You will analyze coverage, manage reserves, and lead litigation strategies while partnering with underwriting and brokers.

The role requires a JD, active bar, and 7–10 years of relevant experience, with strong analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• JD and active bar membership required.
• 7–10 years of Management Liability claims experience.
• Expertise in D&O, EPL, Fiduciary Liability coverage analysis.
• Experience drafting complex reservation of rights letters and declination letters.
• Experience handling governance, executive liability disputes, and related claims.
• Strong knowledge of Management Liability policy forms and coverage structures.
• Ability to operate under delegated claims authority.
• Desirable CPCU, RPLU, SCLA, ARC or similar designation.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a portfolio of complex, high-severity Management Liability claims.
• Analyze policy coverage and prepare letters and positions; establish reserves.
• Direct litigation, manage defense and budgets; negotiate fee arrangements.
• Partner with underwriting on trends, risks, and product improvements.
• Present claims trends and portfolio analytics to leadership and brokers.
• Mentor junior staff and participate in audits, training, and process improvements.
