Job summary

ARCO a Family of Construction Companies in Downers Grove, IL, seeks an Attorney to join as Senior Counsel (Claims). The role focuses on analyzing and resolving pre-litigation disputes, overseeing litigated and arbitrated claims, and collaborating with senior attorneys on risk management.

About 10–15% of the time is transactional work negotiating owner and subcontractor agreements. You will work with a national legal team to implement claims management best practices, manage outside counsel, and

Qualifications

• Licensed attorney with 5+ years of litigation experience.
• Experience in a construction organization or large law firm; familiarity with Owner/subcontractor contracts and mechanics' lien processes.
• First- and second-chair trial and arbitration experience preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication, strategic business acumen, and conflict resolution.
• Flexible with effective and timely communication.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the legal team to manage pre-claim disputes and litigated/arbitrated claims.
• Work with senior attorneys and business leaders on claims handling and risk management strategies.
• Conduct 10–15% transactional work negotiating owner and subcontractor agreements.
• Manage outside counsel and coordinate with insurers.
• Present reports on claims-related data to leadership.
• Monitor changes in laws and industry trends affecting projects.
