Job summary

MEMPHIS LIGHT GAS & WATER is seeking a Claims Adjuster to investigate, settle and manage automobile, property damage and personal injury claims for the Division. You will act as the Division’s representative in court, coordinate with law enforcement, medical providers, and insurers, and advise staff on claim matters while staying current on relevant laws.

This full-time role requires a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and several years of experience in claim adjusting, with readiness for

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.
4 years of professional level experience in claim adjusting with property damage and personal injury (bachelor's path), or 8 years with an associate's degree.

Responsibilities

Investigate and settle claims for the Division; negotiate settlements.
Represent the Division in court for automobile cases and other matters.
Coordinate with law enforcement, courts, and other Departments/Division areas.
Contact claimants, hospitals, doctors, widows, beneficiaries, and insurers regarding medical records.
Advise Division personnel on claim matters and prepare legal papers.
Stay current on insurance laws and regulations.
