Job summary

Premier Concrete Systems is seeking an experienced Civil and/or Structural Engineer with a strong background in concrete construction to join our team in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. The role emphasizes reviewing drawings, evaluating constructability, and guiding concrete means and methods to prevent field issues, while collaborating with project teams from preconstruction through completion.

Candidates should have a civil/structural degree and hands-on construction experience; PE is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• Experience in concrete construction, preferably structural/cast-in-place.
• Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural plans and specs.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• PE license is a plus, not required.

Responsibilities

• Review structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Evaluate plans for constructability, scope, sequencing, and potential conflicts.
• Provide technical guidance related to concrete construction: foundations, superstructures, slabs, formwork, reinforcing steel, concrete mixes, and placement.
• Collaborate with project management, estimating, and field teams to resolve technical issues.
• Review project scope and assist with preconstruction planning.
• Identify conditions impacting production, scheduling, means and methods, or project cost.
• Assist with estimating, bidding, pricing, value engineering, and scope review.
• Participate in project meetings with general contractors, owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Support projects from preconstruction through field execution and completion.

This role is ideal for an engineer who combines strong technical knowledge with practical construction experience. The successful candidate must be able to thoroughly review and interpret construction drawings and specifications, understand concrete means and methods, evaluate constructability, and identify potential conflicts or challenges before they impact field operations.

Responsibilities

• Review structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and project requirements
• Evaluate plans for constructability, scope, sequencing, and potential conflicts

Qualifications

• Strong experience within concrete construction, preferably structural/cast-in-place concrete
• Advanced ability to read and interpret structural and architectural plans and specifications
• Strong understanding of concrete construction methods, sequencing, formwork, reinforcing steel, and field operations
• Ability to identify constructability issues and conflicts within project documents
• Experience working directly with project management and field construction teams
• Concrete estimating, bidding, preconstruction, or value-engineering experience strongly preferred
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• PE license is a plus (I would keep it as a plus unless Peter specifically tells you the person has to be licensed)

Full‑time, in‑person position based in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, with travel to project sites throughout the NY/NJ market as required.
