The City of Grand Rapids is seeking a senior manager to lead the planning, design, and construction of capital projects. This role ensures high quality review and professional oversight across projects from the department.

You will supervise professional and paraprofessional staff, manage budgets, ensure schedules, and coordinate with consultants, contractors, and city stakeholders. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years in civil engineering and 5 years as a Project Manager.
• Professional development in Project Management or Administrative Supervision.
• Registered Engineer in the State of Michigan.
• Experience coordinating with owners, consultants, and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Oversee planning, design, and construction of capital projects.
• Manage budgets, QA, schedules, and client communications.
• Supervise professional and support staff.
• Coordinate with outside consultants and contractors.
• Develop project agreements and proposals.
• Establish quality assurance plans and metrics.
• Ensure timely completion and scope alignment.
• Engage community during planning phase for Vital Streets.
