Job summary

Pinnacle Engineering Group is seeking a Group Leader in Oak Brook, IL to guide a staff team through civil engineering projects from design to delivery. You will ensure technical quality, financial performance, and client satisfaction while mentoring project teams and managing resources, scope, and risk.

The role emphasizes ethical leadership, strong communication with clients and regulators, and accountability for project outcomes across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Bachelor's degree is required; PE license is mandatory.
• 10+ years of relevant engineering project management experience.
• Experience acting in responsible charge of engineering projects.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience leading complex or multi-disciplinary civil projects.
• Strong background in QC/QA, project financial reporting, and risk management.
• Experience interacting with clients, agencies, stakeholders and the public.

Responsibilities

• Act in responsible charge of overall civil engineering project, delivery, and firm commitments.
• Demonstrate ethical leadership, sound judgment, and accountability for project outcomes.
• Lead, inspire, and mentor multidisciplinary project teams; support proposals.
• Establish and manage project scope, schedules, staffing plans, and budgets.
• Coordinate design, plan production, and project delivery to meet deadlines.
• Serve as the sole point of responsibility for QC/QA and coaching on quality.
• Provide high-level technical oversight and direction to teams.
• Develop strong client relationships and satisfaction efforts.
• Lead preparation, review, and negotiation of contracts and amendments.
• Manage project financials, risk exposure, and profitability.
• Negotiate critical technical, contractual, or schedule issues.
• Coordinate communications and ensure clarity across teams.
• Mentor engineers and staff; ensure consistent mentoring across teams.
