Job summary

Jobtailor in Pasadena, CA is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead the creation of civil engineering design documents and coordinates with the geomatics team for record data. The role involves multiple projects, scope management, and QA/QC to ensure compliance with industry standards.

The candidate will prepare design alternatives, develop 3D models, and lead preparation of specifications and construction documents, with strong client communication and team mentoring throughout

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer.
• Minimum 8 years of experience.
• Experience with land development projects in location area county markets.
• Knowledge of agency and industry applicable codes.
• General understanding of project document production phases.
• Strong knowledge of civil systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
• Ability to discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.
• Excellent time-management skills.
• Understanding of task assignment and schedule.
• Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
• Mentor and lead other design team members.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, hydrology and hydraulic programs).
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead for preparing civil engineering design documents.
• Prepare and revise documentation from feasibility analysis to construction closeout.
• Coordinate with geomatics team for accurate record data.
• Prepare concept design alternatives.
• Prepare three-dimensional models of civil systems.
• Participate in coordination meetings with team members and external consultants.
• Prepare construction quantity estimates and basic opinion of cost analysis.
• Assist in developing and managing project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
• Lead preparation and coordination of project specifications and construction documents.
• Conduct quality assurance and quality control on projects.
• Process project documentation to approval and permit availability.
• Work with team to prioritize workload and schedule on multiple projects.
