City of Scottsdale seeks a Senior Plans Examiner – Civil to perform high-level reviews of construction documents for compliance with adopted codes and City standards. The role requires independent judgment, coordination across departments, and clear communication with engineers, developers and contractors to ensure accurate submittals.

The ideal candidate has substantial municipal plan review experience in a high-volume environment and is proficient in electronic plan review platforms.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field (architecture, structural, civil, or closely related).
Three years of experience with construction plan review in a municipal setting.
Equivalent education/experience substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

Perform senior-level review of construction documents for code compliance and City standards.
Exercise independent judgment interpreting complex submittals and coordinate corrections across departments.
Communicate technical requirements to engineers, developers and contractors; ensure high quality plans.
