Job summary

Town of Gilbert in Gilbert, AZ seeks a Building & Fire Plans Examiner Senior to review complex plans for code compliance and mentor junior staff. This is a full-time, non-exempt role with overtime eligibility.

You will manage plan reviews from permit through final inspection, provide expert guidance to developers and contractors, and maintain accurate records in our electronic system. A strong background in building and fire plan review is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• AZ Driver's License is required.
• 3 ICC Building Certifications, including Commercial Building Plans Examiner.
• 3 ICC Fire Certifications, including Fire Plans Examiner.
• 4-5 years in building/engineering plan review with CAD drafting experience.

Responsibilities

• Review complex commercial, industrial, and residential plans for code compliance.
• Act as a technical mentor to other plans examiners on difficult cases.
• Manage plan review projects from permit to final inspection using the town system.
• Provide guidance to developers, contractors, and the public on requirements.
• Prepare review letters, forms, and maintain project records.
