Job summary
Washington State Ferries (WSF), a division of WSDOT, is seeking a Senior Civil/Marine Engineer to provide project management and technical leadership for ferry-terminal design and delivery. You'll guide projects from scoping through award, ensuring safe, reliable operations and constructible solutions.
The role emphasizes NEPA/SEPA coordination, cross-functional collaboration, and adherence to WSDOT standards.
Qualifications
- Professional licensure as a Civil Engineer in Washington or approved equivalent.
- Experience leading large, multidisciplinary terminal projects.
- Knowledge of WSDOT design standards and the Terminal Design Manual (TDM).
- Experience with PS&E bid packages and Design-Bid-Build/DB delivery.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review PS&E bid packages and design documentation.
- Develop civil and terminal designs including grading, drainage, traffic control.
- Ensure designs meet WSDOT standards and TDM requirements.
- Lead complex terminal preservation and improvement projects with scope/schedule/budget.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities and NEPA/SEPA alignment.
- Support project management including consultant scopes and risk documentation.
- Coordinate design/construction activities and represent the design team.
- Provide construction-phase design support, review submittals and change orders.
- Uphold WSF priorities and values in leadership actions.
