About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Civil Infrastructure Engineer to lead the development and optimization of standardized civil and site infrastructure solutions for AI data centers. The role owns civil standards, repeatable campus and site layouts, and site-feasibility logic while directing outside civil engineering firms responsible for detailed design and permitting support. A core responsibility is translating practical land-development expertise into software-driven feasibility screening, configurable site layouts, preliminary quantity estimates, and procurement workflows. This is a technical leadership and infrastructure product development role rather than a traditional design-production position.
Key Responsibilities
Site Infrastructure Architecture & Standardization
- Own civil and site infrastructure standards, reference layouts, and reusable development criteria.
- Develop campus configurations for different facility capacities, power systems, cooling technologies, and expansion scenarios.
- Create repeatable approaches to grading, stormwater, roads, underground utilities, equipment yards, and utility corridors.
- Optimize site layouts for land utilization, earthwork, installation complexity, schedule, and construction cost.
- Define standard interfaces for substations, generation equipment, cooling infrastructure, and utility connections.
- Separate truly reusable design elements from local requirements involving soils, topography, environmental conditions, permits, and utility access.
- Build site-feasibility and development-readiness criteria to inform early customer decisions.
Engineering Software & Procurement Development
- Translate site-development constraints into structured configuration inputs, design rules, and exception logic.
- Partner with software teams on preliminary feasibility evaluation, campus layout generation, takeoffs, bill-of-material generation, and design package creation.
- Define standardized civil material specifications, site infrastructure quantities, and contractor procurement requirements.
- Incorporate site costs, utilities, approvals, and construction schedules into selection and optimization decisions.
- Identify conditions that require external site-specific engineering and professional review.
- Use real project feedback to improve software rules and the repeatability of standard site layouts.
External Engineering & Contractor Leadership
- Direct external civil engineers responsible for detailed grading, drainage, utility drawings, calculations, and permitting support.
- Develop external scopes of work, technical criteria, submittal expectations, and review processes.
- Challenge consultant designs to reduce earthwork, utility complexity, cost, and schedule risk.
- Coordinate with developers, utilities, permitting authorities, equipment vendors, and construction contractors.
- Standardize civil infrastructure packages and contractor work scopes where practical.
- Guide field change decisions while external licensed engineers retain applicable engineer-of-record responsibilities.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
- Integrate civil site criteria with electrical, mechanical, compute, and networking reference architectures.
- Support customer site screening, early feasibility, project development, and infrastructure readiness decisions.
- Feed delivery and constructability lessons into the next generation of Remanie reference designs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- Significant experience in hyperscale data centers, major industrial facilities, or comparable large-scale site development.
- Strong understanding of grading, drainage, land development, underground utilities, permitting, and site planning.
- Demonstrated experience directing engineering consultants or leading multidisciplinary infrastructure development.
- Proven ability to optimize civil engineering for cost, schedule, constructability, and repeatability.
- Experience working with utilities, developers, engineering firms, and contractors.
- Ability to review complex designs, make tradeoffs, and define clear technical requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Direct hyperscale data-center campus development experience.
- Owner's engineering, developer-side technical leadership, or repeatable industrial campus planning experience.
- AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and related site planning or feasibility tools.
- Automated feasibility software, parametric layout tools, or translation of civil requirements into digital products.
- Substation sites, power generation equipment, cooling infrastructure, or large utility installations.
- Experience standardizing external contractor scopes and civil construction packages.
What Success Looks Like
- Configurable campus layouts, site design standards, and practical site feasibility rules.
- Software-driven preliminary site configuration, quantity estimation, and procurement planning.
- Reduced repetitive design, better land and utility utilization, and improved contractor execution consistency.
Why Join Remanie
This foundational role reports directly to the Head of Strategic Engineering and shapes the site-development systems behind Remanie's configurable infrastructure product. Software coding is not required; translating civil engineering knowledge into scalable software requirements is essential. As the platform evolves, the same engineering and procurement capabilities may also support adjacent markets such as robotics and industrial automation.
Compensation
$160,000-$215,000 base plus significant equity. We also offer medical, dental and vision coverage, flexible PTO, daily meals, and whatever AI tools you need.
Salary ranges are proposed; equity subject to applicable plan terms.
