We believe in giving talented people the ownership and autonomy to make a meaningful impact. Our culture is built around a few core principles:
- Ownership and accountability: Take responsibility for outcomes, identify opportunities and drive projects forward independently.
- A bias for action: Work with pace and purpose, making informed decisions and overcoming obstacles to maintain momentum.
- Analytical thinking: Challenge conventional approaches, question assumptions and use sound engineering judgement to develop the best solutions.
- Ambition and curiosity: Work on technically challenging projects that require continuous learning, innovation and a willingness to push boundaries.
- Meaningful impact: Focus on delivering infrastructure that supports long-term technological progress and creates lasting value.
The Engineering Team
The engineering function is responsible for developing and delivering large-scale, complex infrastructure projects to support the growing demands of advanced computing and digital infrastructure.
Key areas of focus include:
- Planning and delivering a substantial portfolio of large-scale infrastructure developments over the coming years.
- Advancing innovative cooling technologies and high-capacity electrical distribution systems.
- Developing scalable, modular infrastructure solutions.
- Supporting the design and delivery of large, multi-phase campus developments, including associated site infrastructure and utility networks.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced civil engineering professional to take ownership of the civil engineering workstream across a multi-site infrastructure development portfolio.
You will be responsible for the civil engineering lifecycle, from initial site assessment and feasibility through design, permitting and construction delivery. This is a broad, hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical expertise, commercial awareness and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders across complex developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead civil engineering activities across multiple development sites, overseeing projects from initial site screening through to permitting and construction completion.
- Direct civil due diligence for new-build and redevelopment opportunities, assessing topography, drainage, utilities, ground conditions, flood risk and environmental constraints. Identify potential site constraints, development risks and significant cost implications early in the process.
- Establish and maintain civil engineering design standards, technical specifications and standardised drawing packages.
- Develop site-wide grading strategies, earthwork assessments, material balance calculations and construction sequencing for large-scale developments.
- Identify opportunities to accelerate project delivery through phased construction strategies and early enabling works, including bulk earthworks, site utilities and infrastructure preparation.
- Develop and manage civil permitting strategies across multiple regulatory jurisdictions, including land disturbance, stormwater management, environmental approvals, floodplain assessments and utility-related permits.
- Appoint and manage external engineering consultants, ensuring the quality and coordination of design deliverables from concept development through to Issued for Construction (IFC).
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams across structural engineering, mechanical and electrical systems, telecommunications, utilities and architecture to ensure fully coordinated designs.
- Provide technical oversight and engineering guidance throughout the project lifecycle, resolving complex civil engineering challenges and managing delivery risks.
What We're Looking For
We recognise that exceptional candidates don't always fit a predefined checklist. The following experience would be valuable, but we are interested in people who can bring relevant expertise, sound judgement and a strong track record of delivery.
- Experience leading civil engineering activities on large-scale site development projects, ideally within data centres, industrial facilities, logistics, energy or other major infrastructure sectors.
- Previous experience working for an asset owner, developer or organisation responsible for delivering major capital projects.
- Demonstrable experience appointing, directing and managing external civil engineering consultants, with responsibility for design quality and technical deliverables through IFC.
- Strong technical knowledge of site grading, earthworks, stormwater management and utility infrastructure design.
- Familiarity with relevant environmental and regulatory permitting processes, including NPDES, SWPPP and floodplain permitting requirements such as FEMA, CLOMR and LOMR.
- Experience evaluating potential development sites, identifying significant civil engineering constraints and quantifying associated cost and programme risks before acquisition or development approval.
- Experience managing geotechnical investigations and translating ground investigation findings, including borehole data, into practical engineering design requirements.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Technical experience with challenging ground conditions, including expansive soils, karst geology and high groundwater tables.
- Familiarity with utility coordination and civil engineering requirements associated with major electrical infrastructure and grid interconnections.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS platforms.
We are committed to building an inclusive working environment and ensuring fair and equitable opportunities for all employees and applicants.
All qualified applicants will be considered without discrimination on the basis of any characteristic protected by applicable employment legislation. Recruitment and employment decisions are based on relevant skills, experience and suitability for the role, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
