Job summary

6 Degrees Search in Nashville, TN, is seeking a Senior Civil Estimator to lead our Civil Precon Department. You will oversee, approve and present competitive cost estimates for paving projects, mentor junior estimators, and help grow our preconstruction team.

Responsibilities include analyzing drawings and specs, leading bid processes for public and private work, coordinating with subcontractors, providing value engineering, and maintaining cost data and estimating templates.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as an estimator in the civil industry.
• Proven track record of estimating a range of civil projects (excavation, paving, grading, etc).
• Proficient in necessary software is preferred including Excel, Bluebeam (+ HeavyBid,, Bid-To-Win, AGTEK -preferred but not required).
• Excellent communication, client/business development and negotiation abilities.
• Sense of Urgency on submitting complete bids (on time) is absolutely essential.

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Lead bid processes for public and private sector projects.
• Identify labor, materials, and time requirements by studying proposals and plans.
• Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Prepare bid packages and present final estimates to senior management.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when necessary.
• Provide value engineering recommendations.
• Maintain historical cost data and develop estimating templates and tools.
• Mentor junior estimators and contribute to process improvements.
