Job summary

Kiewit in Lenexa (Kansas City area) seeks a Civil Estimator to lead self-performed infrastructure estimates, mentored growth, and collaboration with preconstruction and construction teams.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in civil estimating for EPC/heavy civil projects, strong leadership, and proficiency with InEight Estimate and MS Office. Relocation may be offered for senior candidates.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering, construction, estimating or similar field; 5+ years in civil estimating for infrastructure
• Experience leading estimates or small estimating teams with coaching/mentoring
• Strong attention to detail, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
• Proficient with Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint and eager to learn InEight estimating tool

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead complete estimates and takeoffs for self-performed civil construction scopes (design/build, design/bid/build, EPC) for heavy civil/infra projects
• Review plans/specs to understand project scope and form the estimate basis
• Review bid documents and assist with cost estimates, including contract and home-office input
• Conduct site investigations prior to operations planning
• Lead constructability reviews and coordinate with project teams to align expectations and scheduling
• Stay abreast of industry trends and new estimating methods/tools
• Become proficient in InEight Estimate; provide leadership in subcontractor/vendor selection
• Prepare special studies/reports and consult with clients on bid changes to keep estimates on track
