Job summary

Lexicon is seeking a Senior Civil Estimator to lead cost estimation for large civil projects, including earthworks, foundations, roads, and bridges. You will coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure accurate, competitive bids and profitable outcomes.

The role requires mentoring junior estimators, reviewing subcontractor quotes, and developing schedules and cash flow projections. Travel to job sites is frequent, and experience with DOT standards is essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil/infrastructure.
• Bachelor’s in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• Strong knowledge of DOT and municipal standards.
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, InEight, Sage Estimating).

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for civil projects.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, contracts, and proposals.
• Quantify earthwork, concrete, structural steel, and site utilities.

Senior Civil Estimator Position Summary

The Senior Civil Estimator is responsible for preparing, coordinating, and managing cost estimates for large-scale civil construction projects, including earthworks, site development, foundations, roads, bridges, and infrastructure. This role ensures accurate, competitive, and profitable bids while mentoring junior estimators and collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and clients.

Senior Civil Estimator Key Responsibilities

Senior Civil Estimator Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Regular use of phones, video calls, and digital collaboration tools.
• Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 25 lbs).
• Frequent travel to job sites, including active construction environments.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or access uneven terrain as required during site visits.
• Must use personal protective equipment (PPE) when on-site (hard hat, safety glasses, boots, high-visibility vest, hearing protection as applicable).
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and active equipment during site inspections.
