Job summary

We Search People partners with a leading civil contractor in the Greater Houston area to recruit an experienced Civil Estimator for the preconstruction team. You will lead the preparation of accurate bid packages for major civil, heavy highway, and site development projects across the region.

You will conduct detailed takeoffs, prepare conceptual estimates and unit price proposals, and use estimating software to model labor, equipment, and material costs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of civil estimating experience within a general contractor or civil subcontractor.
• Track record of leading bids for heavy civil, earthworks, utility infrastructure, or TxDOT highway projects.
• Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software such as HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, B2W, or On-Center.
• Deep understanding of local soil conditions, Houston area drainage specs, and local networks across Houston and Southeast Texas.
• Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive conceptual estimates, hard-bid tenders, and unit price proposals for clients.
• Utilize estimating software to build production rate models for labor, equipment crews, and materials.
• Analyze soil reports, geotechnical data, and site plans to identify potential ground condition risks and constructability issues.
• Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate pricing with material suppliers and specialty civil subcontractors.
• Present final bid packages and risk evaluations to executive leadership and project owners prior to submission.

• Base salary of $120,000 - $150,000 depending on experience
