Job summary

San Bernardino County Department of Public Works seeks an Engineering Technician V to perform highly complex civil engineering tasks. You will draft maps and exhibits, develop plans and drawings in AutoCAD, and assist in project engineering under a professional engineer.

Candidates should have five years of relevant experience and minimum college coursework in civil engineering; substitutions with additional coursework or EIT are considered. Excellent County benefits apply.

Qualifications

• 15 semester units of civil engineering or closely related coursework (transcripts required if degree not conferred).
• Five years of full-time technical civil engineering work applying formulas, theories and practices to projects.
• Substitution options include additional coursework or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) qualification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare landfill, right-of-way, cross-section and contour maps, and complex construction drawings using AutoCAD.
• Prepare final plans, profiles and cross sections for transportation and flood control facilities.
• Assist in project engineering tasks, research for customer service requests, and assist with contract provisions.
