Job summary

San Bernardino County’s Land Use Services – Land Development Division is seeking an Engineering Technician V to perform advanced technical tasks and potentially supervise field investigations. The role involves coordinating with ACCELA and other tools, drafting conditions of approval and design materials, and preparing technical exhibits using GIS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft 365.

Qualifications

Education or credentials as per San Bernardino County options for Engineering Technician V.
Five (5) years of full-time technical civil engineering work experience.
Certification: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with four (4) years of experience.
Thirty (30) semester units in civil engineering or related field with four (4) years experience.
Six (6) years of full-time technical civil engineering work experience.

Responsibilities

Supervise or assist with field investigations and project tracking using ACCELA and other tools.
Identify practical engineering issues and draft conditions of approval, agreements, standards, bulletins, and informational materials.
Prepare technical exhibits and design materials using GIS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft 365.
Assist staff with bond estimates and engineering calculations.
Maintain reports and correspondence related to Land Development and coordinate with Code Enforcement, Planning, Building and Safety, and other agencies.
