Job summary

Tutor Perini Corporation in New Rochelle, NY is seeking a Chief Engineer to provide technical and strategic leadership for civil infrastructure projects from preconstruction through closeout.

You will oversee planning, constructability reviews, risk management, design coordination, and value engineering while ensuring safety, compliance, and profitable delivery across a portfolio of highways, bridges, and transit projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, or similar.
• Master’s degree preferred but not required.
• 20+ years of progressive engineering experience in civil infrastructure, heavy civil, or transportation construction.
• PE license – NY and NJ required.
• History of long-term employment and work tenure.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, drawings, specifications, sequencing, and field execution.
• Experience with public agency, municipal, state, or transportation authority projects.
• Proficiency with standard engineering software, document control systems, and Microsoft Office tools.
• Familiarity with BIM, digital delivery tools, and model-based coordination workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering planning, constructability reviews, temporary works coordination, and design interpretation.
• Review and approve technical reports, work plans, calculations, and recommendations.
• Establish engineering standards, procedures, and quality expectations across projects.
• Coordinate with owners, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve design issues and RFIs.
• Support bid/proposal efforts by reviewing plans, specifications, quantities, phasing, sequencing, and risks.
