Job summary

The City of Norfolk Department of Transportation seeks a Civil Engineer V to manage the VDOT program, coordinating planning, design, right of way and construction across City and VDOT efforts. The role requires strong leadership to ensure projects meet schedules and budgets, with a focus on intergovernmental collaboration.

Required is a professional engineer license and a minimum of five years’ experience as an engineer; a PE license and VDOT experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years experience as an Engineer.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil or traffic engineering or relevant field.

Responsibilities

• Manages City-administered VDOT-funded projects in compliance with VDOT requirements.
• Coordinates City-administered and VDOT-administered projects with City departments, VDOT, stakeholders and citizens.
• Oversee VDOT program staff and attend milestone, progress and partnership meetings.
• Prepare and manage annual CIP budget and coordinate public outreach on City- and VDOT-administered projects.
