Job summary

City of Ormond Beach is seeking a Civil Engineer under the City Engineer’s direction to manage and execute municipal projects. The role includes design, permitting, construction oversight, and coordination with consultants and public agencies to achieve objectives and schedules.

Requires a Florida-licensed PE or the ability to sit for the exam within 2 years, plus a Bachelor's in Engineering and 4+ years of relevant experience. A valid Florida driver’s license is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 4+ years of experience in public works.
• Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) by Florida or able to sit for PE within 2 years.
• Valid Florida driver’s license.
• Knowledge of civil site plan review and stormwater design principles.
• Ability to manage consultant contracts and prepare contract addendums.

Responsibilities

• Designs and prepares engineering projects, plans, and specs with cost, budget, and schedule estimates.
• Administers engineering consultant contracts and reviews plans/specs; prepares addenda.
• Handles permit applications, bid documents, and technical reports.
• Attends bid openings and preconstruction meetings; reviews submittals.
• Coordinates traffic-related issues with City, County, and FDOT; interfaces with the public.
• Prepares City Manager memos and management reports; drafts agreements.
• Monitors construction for contract compliance and quality; stamps and reviews drawings.
• Provides engineering support to City departments and elected officials; responds to inquiries.
