Boston Civil is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer / Project Manager to lead site development projects from concept through permitting and construction. You will own technical design, coordinate with clients and consultants, and mentor junior engineers in a collaborative, growing team.
The role blends independent project management with hands-on engineering in a small firm setting, offering significant influence over project delivery and engineering standards in the Greater Boston area.
Full-Time | Hybrid / Primarily In-Office
Boston Civil is a growing civil engineering firm based in South Boston specializing in site development throughout Greater Boston and Eastern Massachusetts. Our work includes residential, commercial, and mixed‑use projects ranging from small urban infill sites to larger multifamily developments.
Our team works across the full site‑development process, including site layout, grading, stormwater management, utility design, permitting, and construction coordination.
As a small and growing firm, we offer the opportunity to work closely with clients and project teams, remain deeply involved in the technical work, and have a meaningful impact on both our projects and the continued development of the company.
Boston Civil is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer / Project Manager to join our growing team.
This is a senior technical and project‑management role for someone with strong site civil and land development experience who is comfortable taking ownership of projects from initial design through permitting and construction.
We're looking for someone who combines independent project management with exceptional hands‑on technical design capabilities. The ideal candidate is a highly proficient civil designer and AutoCAD/Civil 3D user who enjoys solving challenging design problems, reviewing and improving the work of others, troubleshooting technical and CAD issues, and helping developing engineers become better designers.
This position combines independent project management with substantial hands‑on engineering and design production responsibilities.
The position will work directly with Boston Civil's Principal Engineer and have significant responsibility for project delivery, technical quality, client relationships, staff development, and the continued advancement of our engineering standards and processes.
The balance of technical design, project management, and team leadership will depend on the candidate's experience and strengths. Continued involvement in design and CAD production is an important component of this position.
We're looking for an experienced engineer who combines strong technical design ability with project‑management experience and enjoys being the person others turn to when they need help solving a difficult problem.
A senior role at Boston Civil offers a different opportunity than a traditional position at a larger engineering firm. You'll work directly with the firm's Principal Engineer and have significant influence over how projects are designed, managed, and delivered.
Boston Civil is a young, entrepreneurial firm where new ideas are encouraged and individual contributions can have a meaningful impact on how we operate.
We're looking for someone who enjoys being technically involved, takes pride in solving challenging engineering problems, and wants to help build a strong engineering team.
As a small team, our senior engineers are important technical resources for the people around them. You'll have the opportunity to mentor developing engineers, strengthen our design and QA/QC standards, improve engineering workflows, and help establish the technical practices that will support Boston Civil as the company grows.
For the right candidate, we envision this position developing into a broader technical and operational leadership role as Boston Civil continues to grow. This could include increasing responsibility for staff development, project delivery, engineering standards, and the overall operations of the engineering team.
We're looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to help build and shape a growing engineering practice, rather than simply step into an established role.
Competitive and commensurate with experience, qualifications, and responsibilities.
