Job summary

The City of Coronado seeks a Senior Engineer to lead Capital Improvement Projects within the Public Services & Engineering Department in Coronado, CA.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of professional civil engineering experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and a valid California Professional Engineer registration. Responsibilities include supervising consultants and staff, and overseeing design and construction of city buildings, streets, and utilities.

Qualifications

• At least five (5) years of professional engineering experience.
• Experience leading staff and/or supervising projects is desirable.
• Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
• Possession of an appropriate, valid registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California.

Responsibilities

• Lead, oversee and perform professional level duties in support of the Public Services & Engineering Department’s design and construction projects.
• Serve as project manager on engineering projects for buildings, streets and utilities.
• Ensure work quality and adherence to professional engineering standards.
• Provide complex administrative support to the Principal Engineer, Assistant Director, and Director.
