Job summary

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. (VHB) seeks a Land Development Engineer in Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, or Richmond.

You will design and deliver land development projects across commercial, residential, industrial, and institutional sectors, collaborating with teams, clients and regulators to create high-quality engineering solutions. The role requires 5+ years of land development experience, a Civil Engineering degree, and a PE license (or ability to obtain in 6 months); proficiency in AutoCAD

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• PE license expected or ability to obtain in 6 months.
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office; GIS experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform civil engineering design for land development projects, including site layout, grading, utility design, drainage, and stormwater management.
• Prepare, review, and develop engineering plans, specifications, construction documents, and permitting materials.
• Coordinate with internal project teams, consultants, clients, and regulatory agencies throughout the design and construction process.
• Assist with construction administration activities, including responding to contractor questions, reviewing submittals, and providing technical support during construction.
• Apply knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and standards, with familiarity with Virginia market and development codes.
• Support project teams in developing scopes, schedules, and technical approaches for land development projects.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
