Harriman's growing multi-disciplinary practice is seeking a Sr. Civil Engineer to join our team in Portland, Maine, or Portsmouth, NH. Our civil team takes a holistic, ground-up approach to design, working closely with internal practice groups, architects, engineers, and directly with clients on diverse project types. If you're a collaborative, innovative civil engineering graduate passionate about the built environment and eager to tackle technical reports, calculations, and civil engineering challenges, we want to meet you!

Responsibilities:

• Support civil engineering and land development projects independently and with our team, gaining experience in grading, storm drainage, utility design, environmental design, facility planning, site layout, roadway design, and permitting for projects such as schools, municipal facilities, retail, and mixed-use developments.
• Perform engineering calculations for grading, drainage, storm-water modeling, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater permitting.
• Prepare technical reports and assessments.
• Develop engineering documents and civil specifications, including permitting documents for state and local permits.
• Coordinate with other disciplines, landscape architects, and architectural team members within our firm.
• Support projects during construction administration.
• Opportunities for professional growth and skill development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited program.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience.
• Professional engineering license, with the ability to obtain a Maine license within 3 months.
• Experience with designing and permitting in Maine.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and client relationship management.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and develop detailed construction documents and specifications.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD, and related software.
• Willingness to engage in professional engineering organizations such as ASCE and ACEC.
