Job summary

Simon Property Group is seeking a senior civil engineer to lead complex project development, redevelopment, expansions and renovations. You will sponsor engineering issues through design and construction, coordinating with development, leasing, property management, and consultants to meet goals within budget and schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or Land Surveying; professional licensure preferred.
• 15 years of engineering experience in civil engineering field, site planning and design.
• 5 years of experience supervising projects and/or managing work products of other engineers.
• Working knowledge of civil engineering, land surveying and other segments of engineering related to land development and property management.
• Working knowledge of retail development processes and regulatory requirements for the right to build various real estate and retail projects.
• Effective written and verbal communication and organization skills with attention to detail.
• Demonstrated experience with budgeting and organizational planning.

Responsibilities

• Sponsor all engineering issues concerning the project during the design process and during construction, taking responsibility for budget and schedule.
• Manage Technical Consultants – interview, select and manage civil, geotechnical, traffic engineers, and land surveyors.
• Prepare detailed RFPs for land surveying, civil, traffic, geotechnical investigations; review proposals for completeness.
• Prepare contracts and amendments to engage consultants and manage fees with budget updates.
• Right-to-build issues – work with development staff, counsel & consultants to identify issues and obtain approvals; participate in hearings.
• Coordinate intradepartmental design to minimize conflicts and ensure coordination with other departments.
• Coordinate existing property issues and provide technical recommendations.
• Travel to project locations as needed.
