Job summary

DeKalb County Government in Decatur, GA is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to perform professional engineering tasks in support of capital projects and plan review. You will formulate conceptual designs, analyze reports, and coordinate with city staff, contractors, and consultants.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, 4 years of civil engineering experience, and a valid Georgia driver's license. Engineer-in-Training is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Four years of civil engineering experience.
• Engineer-in-Training preferred.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and/or reviews modeling, planning, and engineering studies in support of project analysis and design.
• Provides technical support during construction and reviews engineering calculations submitted by others.
• Develops preliminary/final plans and designs using CAD and other drafting tools.
• Coordinates and reviews work of contracted architects, engineers, city staff, and contractors.
• Ensures site development plans comply with laws and standards; assesses traffic/transportation impact.
• Assists project managers during bid phase to evaluate proposals and aid in awarding contracts.
