The City of Salinas offers a HIRING INCENTIVE BONUS of $20,000 for newly hired Senior Civil Engineers. The bonus will be paid in four installments: $5,000 upon hiring, $5,000 after six months, and $5,000 on the first and second anniversaries of employment. Candidates must become registered Civil Engineers in California within one year of hire.

We seek experienced Senior Civil Engineers to manage, coordinate, and oversee the development engineering, engineering services, or water, waste, and energy divisions within the Public Works Department. Summary of Duties : Under general supervision, organizes, directs, manages, and coordinates an Engineering Division in the Public Works Department, including overseeing complex professional field and office engineering activities.
Distinguishing characteristics include high experience and expertise, performing complex, non-routine, managerial tasks with minimal supervision, and handling personnel, policy, and procedural development.
Supervision : Receives general direction from the Department Director or designee and exercises supervision over professional and technical staff.

Education : Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
Experience : Five years of progressive supervisory and professional civil engineering experience.
Licenses and Certifications : Valid California Driver's License; must become a registered Civil Engineer in California within one year; SWPPP Developer (QSD) preferred.
