Job summary

Bluebird Staffing is seeking a Senior Civil Roadway Engineer to join our premier engineering team in Princeton, NJ or New York, NY. You will oversee projects from concept through completion, delivering high-quality plans, specifications, and estimates while upholding industry standards and client expectations.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of civil engineering experience, a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred), and a PE license is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive civil engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; a Master's degree is preferred.
• PE licensure is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering projects from concept through completion on schedule and budget.
• Develop plans, specifications and cost estimates for projects.
• Design roadway alignments and related elements per NY/NJ standards.
• Coordinate with design disciplines, contractors and stakeholders.
• Perform site inspections to monitor progress and safety compliance.

Bluebird Staffing has partnered with a premier, full-service consulting engineering firm to identify a highly skilled Senior Civil Roadway Engineer to join their dynamic team in either Princeton, NJ or New York, NY.

In this pivotal role, you will oversee a diverse array of civil engineering projects from initial concept through completion, delivering high-quality plans, specifications, and estimates while ensuring work meets strict industry standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage civil engineering projects, ensuring delivery on schedule and within budget constraints.
• Develop comprehensive civil engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Design horizontal and vertical alignments, roadway construction plans, Work Zone Traffic Control (WZTC) plans aligned with National MUTCD, as well as grading, drainage, and soil erosion/sediment control systems.
• Partner closely with other design disciplines, contractors, and project stakeholders to maintain design integrity.
• Perform site inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with safety and design regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in civil engineering roles.
• Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
• Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Bentley Systems OpenRoads Designer and/or Autodesk Civil3D, along with proficiency in CAD software and Bluebeam.
• Agency Experience: Prior experience with NYCDDC, NYCDEP, NYCDOT, or NYSDOT standards is highly desirable.
