Job summary

Dewberry’s Orlando, FL office seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to lead site civil design with emphasis on grading, drainage, and utilities. You will work closely with public and private clients, guiding teams and ensuring designs are constructible and compliant.

The role requires a BS in Civil Engineering, a Florida PE license, and 12+ years’ experience in land development. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and water/wastewater modeling is essential.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering required.
  • Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 12+ years of experience in land development design and construction.
  • Strong working knowledge of stormwater, drainage, and utility modeling.
  • Advanced experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office.
  • Advanced experience with WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, and ICPR.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee site civil engineering design efforts, including grading, roadway design, stormwater management, and water/sewer/reuse modeling and design.
  • Provide technical support and guidance for development of engineering plans, calculations, and reports.
  • Permit designs through Water Management Districts and other agencies.
  • Assist with quality control reviews and coordination across internal project teams.
  • Assist with scope development and fee estimates for proposed services.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers.
  • Coordinate permitting and design reviews with local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Participate in meetings with city, county, and state agencies as a technical representative.
  • Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs during construction.
  • Perform site inspections for final project certification.

  • Provide technical support and guidance for the development of engineering plans, calculations, and reports to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Permit designs through the agencies including the Water Management Districts.
  • Assist with quality control reviews and coordination across internal project teams.
  • Assist with scope development and fee estimates for proposed engineering services.
  • Actively participate in the training and development of junior engineers through technical support and knowledge sharing.
  • Coordinate permitting and design reviews with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as assist with client coordination.
  • Participate in meetings with city, county, and state agencies as a technical representative when needed.
  • Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs during construction.
  • Perform necessary site inspections for final certification of projects.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • BS in Civil Engineering required
  • Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 12+ years of experience in land development design and construction
  • Strong working knowledge of stormwater, drainage, and utility modeling
  • Experience in higher education and/or energy projects is a plus
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to project teams and reviewers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team environment in the Orlando office.
  • Advanced ability with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office
  • Advanced experience with WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, and ICPR
