Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Senior Civil Engineer role located in Oceanside, CA. The Senior Civil Engineer will lead and perform complex civil engineering design work for public infrastructure projects, including streets, utilities, stormwater facilities, and public facilities. Daily responsibilities include preparing and reviewing engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates; overseeing project planning, permitting, and construction; and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and environmental regulations. The role will coordinate with internal departments, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies, and may provide technical guidance and mentorship to other civil engineers and technical staff. The Senior Civil Engineer will also support long-range infrastructure planning, participate in budget and capital improvement program development, and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering policies and practices.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in civil engineering design and general civil engineering principles, including experience delivering public works or municipal infrastructure projects.
• Experience with planning and coordination of civil engineering projects, including feasibility studies, project scoping, scheduling, and stakeholder engagement.
• Knowledge of stormwater management practices, systems, and regulations, including hydrology, drainage design, and low-impact development strategies.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other civil engineers, multidisciplinary teams, and external partners to achieve project goals.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field; Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering in California (or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe) preferred.
• Proficiency with relevant engineering and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, hydrology/hydraulic modeling tools) and strong technical writing skills for reports and specifications.
• Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations, standards, and codes related to municipal infrastructure and stormwater management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a commitment to public service, safety, sustainability, and quality work.
