Senior Civil Designer

The Senior Civil Designer will serve as the lead designer on a variety of engineering design projects related to residential and site infrastructure development. The role involves coordinating engineering work with project teams, monitoring compliance with codes and standards, and ensuring clear communication and cooperation across the project lifecycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Extensive knowledge of CAD standards and advanced Civil 3D functionality
• Develop, modify, and review models, plans, details, and drawings of engineering systems and design components according to established standards
• Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of residential and site projects of advanced complexity in relation to overall site drainage, grading, and infrastructure constraints
• Implement specific project design criteria and coordinate with project design teams—Engineers, CAD Designers, Technicians, and Sub‑consultants—to successfully complete projects
• Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate the design and technical aspects of assigned projects
• Assist Project Manager(s) with overall project schedules and budget constraints through completion
• Perform quality control review of design elements and overall project deliverables prior to external release
• Identify, interpret, and resolve technical project issues with minimal oversight
• Analyze, interpret, and stay abreast of latest regulations and criteria for local, state, and federal regulatory agencies
• Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and enhance company goodwill and profit

Supervisory Responsibilities

May have supervisory responsibilities. Tasks include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems, in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school
• Certification in CAD software and specific Civil 3D platform
• 10 years’ experience related to CAD and Civil 3D software, with at least 5 years’ experience in detailed land development engineering; GIS experience is preferred
• Ability to train and mentor CAD Drafters/Technicians and Engineering Interns
• Ability to coordinate and lead multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously, making decisions based on procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve successful results and deadlines
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team with input and support from the Manager(s)
• Thorough knowledge and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office platforms
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form or via DRH applications
• Proficiency with MS Office and email
