Job summary

Bohler Engineering Group in Herndon, VA seeks a Senior Civil Design Engineer ready to lead site design, grading, drainage, and permitting. You’ll serve as a technical resource, review complex plans, and drive quality and compliance across high-profile projects in the Herndon area.

You'll collaborate with experienced engineers and project leaders, mentor junior staff, and take ownership from concept through construction, applying AutoCAD Civil 3D and related tools while advancing your

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline).
• 5+ years of experience in land development design and permitting.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software.
• Knowledge of local zoning, permitting, and construction requirements.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• PE license beneficial; EIT required or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Design and review grading, drainage, and utility plans for complex sites.
• Conduct zoning research and site feasibility analyses.
• Support project coordination with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Review design deliverables for accuracy, quality, and compliance.
• Collaborate with and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
• Perform hydrology, stormwater, and earthwork calculations using AutoCAD Civil 3D and design software.
• Contribute to project budgeting, workload planning, and task coordination.
