Job summary

HDR, Inc. is hiring a Senior Civil Construction Inspector in Irvine, California, to oversee the construction process for civil infrastructure projects including water and wastewater facilities, pump stations, pipelines, and roads.

The role requires mentoring junior staff, supervising geotechnical testing, and ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications. You will read plans, identify discrepancies, and serve as the senior inspector on projects when needed, contributing to HDR's culture

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Subject to drug-screening procedures before hire; thereafter random and cause drug and alcohol testing.
• Active participant in employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as water/wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations and pipelines, and roads
• Mentor junior field staff and provide supervision as needed
• Oversee geotechnical compliance testing for water projects
• Oversee concrete placement and compliance testing
• Collaborate with other field representatives or Project Managers
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents
• Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses
• Serve as the most senior inspector on projects as needed
• Perform other duties as needed
